Application to the Colombian Federation of Freight Forwarders
The identity that charged the cargo automotive land transport between 1930 and 1945, the role that the "truck" began to play when the river and iron modes could not respond to the demands of the traffic and, the relevance of transport for the official sectors, printed character to the idea of creating a strong aggregation that, even, had political figuration.
The first union organization of this nature dates from 1945 and had the claim to house all modalities without distinguishing.
For several decades, groups of power have been incessantly sought around the transport activity, already of transport entrepreneurs, already of vehicle owners, sometimes at the level of passenger and load mode separately and in others, with a broader but utopian vision, when trying the coverage of cargo and passenger transporters, entrepreneurs and owners of trucks, buses, buses, buses, buses, buses, taxi unfeasible despite the power that eventually embodies.
Perhaps the common denominator of trade organizations created around transport, has been precisely to show the power of transport as an essential public service, fundamental for the normal development of daily activity.
However, these efforts had not been characterized by having north or orientation in the economic, political and social, which is why its impact on society in general was not reasonably desired.
Meanwhile, a group of entrepreneurs oriented by General Alvaro Valencia Tovar founded in 1976 the Colombian Federation of Cargo Transporters by road " Colfecar " distinguishing itself as the most representative entity of the sector, for its contribution to the technification of companies and the introduction of an industrial criterion in the exercise of the activity. It is attributed to Colfecar having "sitting to tablecloths" to a guild traditionally cataloged as "second class"
The fundamental purpose of the founders was to create an organization capable of implementing mechanisms to interpret the conveyor reality, promoting their interests and effective response to their needs.
Essential distinctive elements of the inspiration and action of Colfecar , were and continues to be the consolidation of industrial and business development in the exercise of transporting activity in Colombia and not the exhibition or manifestation of the sector power as a public service, which distinguishes the institutional work of Colfecar from the rest of the existing union organizations.
